Paper Gems
Durable paper art to wear on the days that you want to embrace life
with a light-hearted touch
I believe that creative expression keeps Jim and I engaged in the world around us. That is why I am Jim Higbee’s greatest fan and partner with him to market his unique woodwork. In turn, Jim encourages my exploration of using paper to make jewelry.
I am intrigued by the possibilities that paper offers in texture, pattern, and colors. Making jewelry from paper marries a myriad of shapes in rainbow hues with the production of wearable art. The label for Paper Gems says, “Durable paper art for the days when you want to embrace life with a lighthearted touch.” Paper Gems are for people who appreciate something original and handcrafted.
The sale of Paper Gems benefits a school in rural South Sudan, Hope and Resurrection Secondary. As missionaries, Jim and I helped open this school in 2008. It is thriving and empowering young people to get the education that they will need to become leaders in their communities and country. To check out the school’s story, visit the website: hopeforhumanityinc.org.
If you are curious about what life would be like in a rural village in South Sudan, one without electricity or cell service, I have written an account of Jim's and my school year at Hope and Resurrection Secondary.
